Auburn BCS Champions
Michael Dyer's stop-and-go maneuver set up a short field goal on the last play that sent No. 1 Auburn over the No. 2 Ducks 22-19 in the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game Monday night. With his 37-yard run, sure to be preserved in college football's highlight reel, the freshman running back did what most fans thought was impossible -- he upstaged his teammate, Heisman-winning quarterback Cam Newton. This was Auburn's first title since 1957 and left the Southeastern Conference on top for the fifth straight year.

Roberto Alomar in the Hall
Roberto Alomar became a Hall of Famer Wednesday. The two-time World Series champions easily elected after narrow misses last year. Alomar was picked on 90 percent of the ballots by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. The 12-time All-Star won a record 10 Gold Gloves at second base, hit .300 and helped the Toronto Blue Jays win titles in 1992-93.
